To make this hack acceptable for inclusion in the main BOINC code we would have to do at least the following:

  1. Test for HELP_DESK_AGE and don't do anything if it has not been set. These changes must be backward compatbile
  2. Change the function which gets the most recent post timestamp to use the new database abstraction layer.
