Pirates@Home is having problems with our connection to the Internet. There are delays of 3000 to 5000 ms (that's 3 to 5 seconds!) on outbound traffic, including ping and DNS lookups, and packet loss of around 40%. Inbound doesn't seem to be suffering. As a result, you may find visiting the site slow and painful. (Perhaps we should add this to the list of punishments, along with Misfit?) The ISP is aware of this problem, and in fact help diagnose that the problem is between them and the modem. They are sending out a tech, but not until Tuesday. (I'll bet the problem is found and fixed somewhere along the route by then.) I'm going to keep the work generator going, because delays and packet loss will cause slower connections, but should not cause lost work. We shall see if that's true... ____________
