Kalessin wrote: Hello Cap'n, Hello again to test with the latest problems? I wondered if this small batch would sneak through unnoticed. I started another sequence of testing the apps and we immediately found a problem: the WU's reported zero cpu_time, and thus claimed zero credit. I reported it, and a fix was made, and so a new version will be tested tomorrow. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

SC>Mike Mitchell wrote: What am I to make of this output? The hint to the problem is "running in standalone mode", which should not be the case when the app is running on a BOINC client. We run it in "standalone mode" to test it before sending it out. Something broke in detecting the difference. The memory leaks are annoying, but seem small enough not to be a concern. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

There are still a few stragglers out there, but I want to keep going, so here is the summary for hello 5.12: Pass Rate, by Operating System, past 7 days Version OS Total Results Pass Rate Fail Rate 512 Darwin 100 92.00 8.00 512 Linux 178 97.75 2.25 512 Windows 3452 99.94 0.06 Pass Rate, by OS and CPU, past 7 days Version Op System/CPU Total Results Pass Rate Fail Rate 512 Darwin/i386 2 100.00 0.00 512 Darwin/PPC 60 90.00 10.00 512 Darwin/x86 38 94.74 5.26 512 Linux/x86 163 97.55 2.45 512 Linux/x86-64 15 100.00 0.00 512 Windows/x86 2984 99.93 0.07 512 Windows/x86-64 468 100.00 0.00 So everything ran fine, it just reported zero cpu time and zero claimed credit. I think I understand the cause of the failures on Darwin/PPC. My old G3 runs 10.3, and if I build the app on it then the app runs on 10.3 and 10.4. But that machine is having hardware problems (maybe dust bunnies?) so I built the app on a different Mac, running 10.4, and thus the app fails on 10.3 Macs. There is a way to build on 10.4 so that the app will run on 10.3. I've not yet learned it for building with Makefiles. (It works now for XCode for building the client, so I need to figure out how to translate that to Makefiles.) ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

I've just done two new ones. They still run for 6 seconds, and now ask for 2 credit cents.

It might be one to run by the alpha list. ____________ -- Eric Myers "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." -- William Butler Yeats

The latest test clients have tests to prevent crazy work requests from making it to the server. I think that is where this message comes from. They never could find what was causing the huge requests but at least contained them. ____________ BOINC WIKI ![]() ![]() Dirty John Rackham

I must say, at the time I reported it I checked my Long term Debt and saw that it was around 37,000 seconds. Pirates was the only project with positive debt. So I am wondering if it was asking for the full LTD amount of seconds of work. Or would those two be just a coincidence? ____________ Jord. Used to be a single voice that vanished in a crowd.
