Will there be clients for Solaris in the near future available?

It will be great, imagine those marvelous SPARC machines hungrily crunching. For home users the revolution will be a version running their own Solaris/x86 (Solaris 10 running in 64 bits with AMD opteron processors could even fly!)

Yes, there will be Solaris applications, but no, not in the near future.
The BOINC core has already been built on Solaris, but app development right
now is focusing on Windows, Apple, and Linux because those are the platforms
that will get us the most users in the short term.

Maybe you're right but Sun highend servers could deliver huge amounts of crunches compared to other platforms. Less users don't necessarily imply less credits.

Certainly true. But I don't have a Sun that I can do graphics on right now,
and the one that I can use for CLI development is managed by someone who does
not want BOINC running on it. How many of these high-end servers will actually get to run BOINC? I don't know.
