Reports of the Project's demise have been a bit premature as the Captain has released some tasks into the wild, just to prove the doubters wrong.
On spotting Misfit's post earlier, I opened up the hatches and have been delighted to get a gentle, but steady, trickle of 14 seconds jobs throughout the day, with the usual restriction in the number of tasks allowed and the 1 hour backoff, so as to share out the love.

I’ve had three antique craft patrolling forlornly all along, but looks like none caught anything. Snivel … err, I mean Arrrr!

We're running "Hello, BOINC World 6.13", which are only available for Linux and Windows, not for the Mac.

But Eric has whispered to me that changes are in the wind, with more work coming over time, new applications and some real work. But I will leave that to him to explain himself. Oh, and he'll try to change the back-end/forums so these run the latest BOINC code. If that doesn't break everything down, that is. ;-)

Well arrr, this be fine news comrades...

I be thinking though that we not been acting particularly pirate-fashion. These pieces-of-eight tasks, shiny as they may be, aren't really piratey enough, now are they lads?

Hows about we shuffle alongside some other project's hoard and snaffle a bunch?

In other words, we run WUs from other projects. The projects "donate" a bunch of tasks and we, arrr, crunch 'em for piratey credits. It's like capturing a vessel and hoisting the Jolly Roger until we get caught, sort of.. The results get shipped back and all are happy...

'Cept those that wanna see us swinging from the yard-arm, the scurvy knaves...

the scurvy knaves...

... gotta walk the plank!

Strangely and against my will i stopped using Willy's BAM! for now since Pirates are banished.

BAM! makes administering BOINC so much easier until it makes a decision that you don't want it to make on your behalf. Society in a microcosm.

BAM! and Pirates@Home can coexist after the initial boot from BAM! but now i don't want them to. Arr!

K. BAM! has implemented a new option as a direct result of declaring Pirates@Home as a retired project.
From BAM! forum: Time to Retire Pirates@Home

[BOINCstats Willy wrote:
It's now possible to prevent retired projects from being detached from your hosts. Setting is on the BAM! settings page.

This, for me, is a huge improvement in BAM! and more importantly demonstrates Willy’s commitment to BOINC and every individual that runs her.
I'm confident that this issue is solved, but the only thing left is to wait for another project to be retired and see if we are still attached.

Hi all,

I'm glad that this little project still has a bit of life left in it.

Hopefully more WU's will be available in due course....there's seems to be 14 available now ;)

One issue I have is that I can't get any stats from this project in my BOINC Manager "projects" tab. The Status page says that various sections of the website are working..and I can log in OK - but still I don't seem to be attached to the project with my new PC :(

Maybe I just have to wait until something gets changed on the website ?
